Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can I leave?
We require a minimum of 4 weeks to plan your getaway.
What happens after I fill out the survey?
Someone from Faraway Places Travel will contact you. After payment is made, you do nothing. Seriously. We plan the rest. A week before you leave you will start to get some hints.
How far can I expect to drive?
3-6 hours drive time each way is the sweet spot.
How much does an average trip cost?
You should budget $450 per person for 2 nights, 3 days. You can budget higher, this is just a minimum recommendation. Families will run differently depending on kids and their ages. Holiday weekends will typically be more.
Does everyone traveling need to fill out a survey?
Yes. All adults need to fill out a survey so we can make everyone happy!
What is included in my budget?
  • Accommodations (including taxes and fees)
  • Parking
  • Your super fun itinerary and personalized suggestions
  • Service fee of 15%
  • Whatever is left over we will provide gift cards or tickets to attractions, activities and restaurants we think you will love. Food tours, massages, comedy shows, and local sporting events are some of our favorites!
    • How do I pay?
    Venmo, Apple Pay, Chase Zelle Pay
    Are these trips pet friendly?
    Unfortunately, no.
    How do I know what to pack?
    A week before you are scheduled to leave, we will send you an email with clues and the weather forecast.
    Are there any additional fees after I set my budget?
    Once you set your budget, there will be no additional fees. If your budget is $2200 for two people, we will create a trip utilizing your budget to the max!
    Can I make payments or pay separately from my travel partner?
    Unfortunately, this is due in full and can not be split.
    When do I find out where I am going?
    One week before your travel starts you will receive an envelope in the mail (only Traveler #1 will get an envelope). Feel free to open up the USPS envelope, but do not open your 3 Day Surprise Getaway envelope just yet! Wait to open this envelope until the day you start your adventure.
    What accommodations types are available?

    Faraway Places Travel prefers to book 4-5 star hotels, but we do love some of our 3 star options! Bed & Breakfast are also a great option if you like a more family style experience. No matter what, you will stay in a clean, safe, and conveniently located place!

    We do not work with VRBO or Airbnb. If you have special requests or brand names that you are a fan of, please let us in in your survey.

    What if I need to cancel my trip?
    Give us a call and we will do our best to accommodate you. Faraway Places Travel does recommend travel insurance and we are happy to help with trusted suppliers if you need.
